Underwater Hunter Diver Course
You can feel the anticipation. Will this be the dive that you snare the prize lobster or shoot your personal best fish? The sea is flat calm, there is a line of sargassum weed on the surface, it is sunny, the water is warm and clear, you can see a ball of bait fish under the boat, and the seagulls are watching with envy from overhead. As you are getting your gear ready for another great underwater hunter dive, you can not help but reflect how lucky you are.
The captain is pulling the boat up to the mooring ball of the wreck you are going to dive and you know the sound of the diesel's idle means it is time to get suited up. A primordial instinct awakens in your mind as you and your buddy go through your pre-dive safety check. With a giant stride forward, you become an underwater hunter diver.
Many divers are initially hesitant about lobstering and spearfishing. They are concerned about safety and ecology. Your training up to his point has emphasized your role as a passive observer, not a hunter. How will you reconcile your dedication to environmental conservation and safety with your desire to catch your dinner? How will you handle the additional underwater tasks without becoming overwhelmed? Will you forever view the underwater world in a different way? The PADI Underwater Hunter Diver course will teach you the basic principles for fun, safe and productive underwater hunting. The course was designed personally by your instructor as a distinctive PADI specialty for flexibility, so that what you learn will apply effectively when you are underwater hunting in different environments (wrecks, reefs, rubble, pilings). You will learn how to be both responsible and respectful of the environment, and to hunt lobster and fish in a safe and ethical way. With experience, you will learn to feel comfortable in this new role as a PADI Underwater Hunter Diver.
